National Library Week

Today kicks off National Library Week! It’s a celebration of our wonderful libraries and librarians and all the ways they improve our lives.

This year’s theme is “You Belong @ your Library.” I know, for me, libraries have always felt like home so this is very appropriate. What does Multnomah County Library (MCL) mean to you? Or any of the ones that make up Washington County Cooperative Library Services (WCCLS) or Libraries In Clackamas County (LINCC)? Wherever your library is, you can share your story with others.

Atyourlibrary.org is the site to visit to find ways you can participate. For example, if you have a Facebook page, you can download any of their banners and use it as your cover photo. And, until Wednesday, April 11th, you can enter their Six Word Story Sweepstakes on their Twitter.

Check out bestselling novelist Brad Meltzer’s public service announcement below on the value of libraries:

During National Library Week, go visit your favorite library and say thank you to a librarian!
