POP Goes the Library!

Ursula Le Guin recently said, “The library is the only place where information, entertainment, art, and knowledge are free.”

No truer words have been spoken- as evidenced by Central’s recent Portland Opera Preview (POP) of “Galileo Galilei.” POP is a great lecture series Portland Opera brings to the library. It’s an hour full of music and background information from the latest production performed by the very talented Portland Opera Studio Artists. The emcee, the Chorus Master, is the always entertaining Robert Ainsley. His passion about the opera is evident when he talks.

Opera may not be for everybody. But I love the fact that the library provides anyone the access to experience it! I, for one, was skeptical, at first. Then, the music played and the voices filled the Collins Gallery- and I was immediately taken by it. And, I can see the audience was as well!

From what I heard, “Galileo Galilei” is not to be missed- so I invite everyone to check out Portland Opera’s website for more information. And, don’t miss out on the next POP event!

Thanks to Portland Opera for sharing their music with the library!
