As an MCL intern, I have been given the chance to do a number of really cool things in the past few months. I was recently invited to observe storytime sessions in the Children’s Library at Central.
I learned that MCL offers several storytimes:
Book Babies Storytime: For babies from birth to 12 months. Includes songs, action rhymes, share a book time, and playtime. Gives young families an opportunity to get to know one other.
Tiny Tots Storytime: For one-year-olds. Includes songs, movement activities, rhymes, books, and playtime. Engages new walkers in language-based activities.
Toddler Storytime: For two-year-olds. Includes interactive stories, songs, and games. Encourages emerging language skills.
Preschool Storytime: For children from ages 3 to 6 years. Includes fun and engaging books, songs, and activities for building early literacy skills.
Big Kids Story Club: Special program for kids who have outgrown Preschool Storytime. For children entering first or second grade. Features longer books and songs.
Sensory Storytime: For all preschoolers — geared to children with sensory integration issues.
Pajama Storytime: For children birth to six. Held in the evening hours around 6:30-7:30pm.
There are also storytimes in Chinese, Vietnamese, and Spanish.
